Day 12: True Adventures

Today was an extremely productive day, and very enjoyable! We were very determined to go to New York, and decided to go visit the Statue of Liberty. It was fairly cold but we were able to handle it… for the most part.
To begin, we went to Dunkin Donuts to eat breakfast. I tried to order a black coffee, but I got something sweet instead. It wasn’t anything that bad so I just let it go because it was still good.
We got a bit distracted since Nury was fangirling about Zelda and left shortly. Nury needed to get some gasoline and thus went to a petrol station (yeah, that’s right, I said it). It blew my mind a bit when I found out New Jersey also have other people pump gasoline (petrol!!) for you. I never saw it in action until today.
I know that Oregon does the same.  Unfortunately we think Nury got jipped cause she gave the guy $20 but the gasoline meter didn’t go anything above half the meter (that’s where it was prior to pumping petrol). It went up at least half a section.
What was super awesome was that there this couple that gave me and Luke a ferry ticket, so we didn’t have to pay for the ferry! Anyway, we went onto the ferry and decided to go visit Ellis Island. There we browsed around the museum and Luke went to find records on his family which I thought was pretty cool.
That’s when it started to get pretty cold. We went back on the ferry to finally go to the Liberty Island and holy shit it was cold! We managed to get a lot of good shots! I even managed to help a lot of strangers with their photos and they seemed very appreciative of me taking their picture. But dang we were super duper cold cause the wind decided to pick up.
We went back on the ferry to go back home but we accidentally got off at the wrong stop and we would have to pay to get on the ferry all over again (it is $16 per person). Luckily we managed to find another ferry that would take us to Liberty Landing for only 7 dollars each. It was quite the ordeal (though I got some nice pictures and it was nice exploring New York!), but we made it!
After this whole thing, we finally made it home. As exciting (or stressful for Nury), we were all tired. To finish the day, we decided to eat KBBQ and oh man it was delicious. Nury had a blast just watching the meat being cooked right in front of her. We ordered marinated and non-marinated kalbi. Everyone enjoyed it a whole lot (whole Luke kept making sure that I would get extra meat even though it was fine. Luke is just a super awesome guy).
We finally went to H Mart to get some samgyeopsal to eat for dinner tomorrow.
Now we’re home and we are just being lazy fucks like no one’s business.
It was a great day. I really got to experience New Jersey and New York and got a crazy amount of photos to go through but it was nice to finally take a good amount of pictures.
With that said, good night and… I’m going to be a lazy piece of shit now.

  1. Wow! That certainly does sound like quite the adventure. Seriously, I’m amazed– the Statue of Liberty is one of the places I want to see at some point in my lifetime (and I had no idea it was that close to where you guys are at… I thought New York was far away from New Jersey haha). It’s a little surreal to just casually hear about how you guys went there.

    Glad you guys are having fun! Nury seems to be going all out. I don’t think my stamina would have lasted all the cool stuff you guys are doing @@;
