After much contemplation, I’ve decided to merge the stars that I made years ago to the jar that I’ve been working on. I explain my reasonings and provide my thoughts on this Paper Star Project that I’ve finally finished. Let’s go over how many I’ve made first though.

This is who a group of ten stars look.

If you recall, before I started this Paper Star Project, I had some paper stars that I already had made from a long time ago. During the time that I had made them, I really did want to finish up a whole jar but never really got around to it. After I started using them more and more, I figured that it would be a nice idea to just finish what I had started years ago.

I was once told that if you were to fill an entire jar, you would receive blessings (or your wishes would be granted). Since I thought that would be a nice thing to have, I started on my journey to make paper stars.

This is 1000 stars inside the jar.
This is 1000 stars inside the jar.

It was then that it started to evolve to become something more than just a hobby. It may sound rather silly, but it started to become really exciting when I started to ask other people if they had wishes that they wanted me to write down. It’s because I started taking down wishes, I felt like that if I had finished the project and filled up a jar, I would have accomplished something great. This became something more than just for me, but I was doing this for everyone else too.

While it may not be much and it really is a small thing, I made these stars with the intent and hope that all of my friend’s wishes would come true. It may seem simple and petty, but you really do have to realize how much time I put into making these stars.

I started making the stars on Day 27. I technically finished last night so that means that I spent 27 days making all these stars. During those 27 days, if I was not working, not doing some other chore that I needed to do or required me to use my hands, I was making paper stars. Sometimes, I would even bring the paper to work and make paper stars.

It wasn’t really “cheap” to make these either. I spent a good amount of money to get the material and make these paper stars. I don’t mean to say that they were expensive either, but I don’t want people to think that this hobby was just a cheap one.

CONCLUSION

So for everyone that asks me why am I making the paper stars? It’s for you all. I want to grant all of your wishes and that is why I made them.

That jar contains 2432 stars. There were 72 individuals who placed wishes in the jar.

I still do have the penguin jar to fill and it is dramatically smaller than the bear, but I will have to give myself some rest from the paper stars for now. Until then, I will no longer accept anymore wishes. I hope you guys enjoyed the progression of the project.

Now I need to find something interesting to start taking pictures of soon. I should actually be receiving a figure soon. As to who it may be should actually be of no surprise if you know me (or have at least read this blog enough).

With that said, good night.

God makes stars. I just produce them.

  1. Firstly, congrats on filling the jar! Secondly, it doesn’t sound silly at all; I think it was kind of inevitable that you’d become more enthusiastic about it once you started involving other people. It gave you an opportunity to connect with people, and to learn something new about them. It gave meaning to the project you’d started years (or however long) ago; thinking about it from that perspective, it makes sense that you didn’t finish it until after other people were involved.

I think filling that jar — making 2432 stars — shows your dedication to your friends, and perhaps it’s also a tangible representation of the bonds you share with them.

I think I’ve been playing too much P3P. In all seriousness, it’s certainly an achievement one can appreciate.

P.S. Don’t tell Nightmaren I commented on your post, otherwise Nightmaren’ll be super disappoint about all the posts on their blog that I haven’t commented on. >.>

    1. Thank you, Praxis, for your thoughts and comments on this! It’s really nice to get feedback whenever I post these things. It’s really hard to track whether or not people are really visiting the website. I’ll probably add some kind of tracker to really figure that out. Anyway I digress.

I really like how you’ve made it a point that these stars is a tangible representation of the bonds.

Again, thank you for the comment that you’ve left! Also, Nightmaren would have found out anyway.
