So some of you may remember my post about the “Reg” the sick regular customer. This week, I guess he was the one that took the spotlight that leads me to talk about him in this week’s Synopsis Recall.
To be honest, it’s been a thing that has become a bit of a concern for me. It’s just a little frustrating when you see someone that is in bad condition and you know there is very little that you can do to help that person. Especially considering my position of not being able to do almost anything but work.
What’s perhaps even more frustrating is when you get an idea of what the person is thinking. Then the idea of inevitability sinks in. Despite this, I wanted to at least hope that there would be something that would spark a change in Reg that would eventually cause him to seek medical attention. However that was all for naught.
I wish there was more to say, but I haven’t seen Reg ever since he found out that he had no money on Friday. I had initially thought that it could be possible that he’s avoiding the store because I had asked if I could get him to go to the hospital (to which he had refused). Then of course, I had remembered that he really has no money whatsoever. So he probably knows that it’s useless to go to my store if he’s unable to purchase anything.
I guess since I have a friend who’s going to medical school, the idea of having people seek medical attention when it’s needed has become something that I try to actively effect onto people.
While I may not have had any experience with people suffering greatly and refusing to go to the hospital, I can understand at least ever so slightly the guilt that would be built from at least not trying to offer some kind of help to someone that needs it.
It would be great if Reg would get better.
In other news, the store seems to finally start getting better. It was rather unfortunate that the sales for Sunday was pretty bad. Though I suspect that the low sales was due to the construction that my father and Ray were doing while Hayden and I were moving things all over the place.
I was a little frustrated earlier today considering that I put hopes up when I knew it was pointless. I had called Hussein to see if he would show up to pick up his stuff. He said he’d come by in the evening. I knew he wouldn’t arrive but I had at least placed some faith in him. Sure enough, he never did show up. There isĀ so much junk that it’s honestly just disgusting. I’ve already filled up the (rather small) trash with junk that can be thrown away. I’m getting close to just recycling all the paperwork that Hussein seems inclined to keep.
Oh well. C’est la vie. Such is life. All I can do at this point is just continue with how things are going and do what we can. Though if it keeps up, I probably will throw everything away. I don’t want to even bother to see what can be salvaged and use what can still be used. There’s too much to go through to even try.
