Texas Chronicles Day 3-5: A-Kon 26 Adventures!

Posted on

Since it has been a while, my memory is beginning to fail me as I can’t exactly remember all the details of what happened during each day of the convention. Also since there was a lot of just me walking around taking pictures, I figured it’d just be appropriate to put this all up in one post. Hopefully you can forgive me as I have forgotten the exact order of when certain events had happened. Also, you can find all of the other cosplay pictures on this post.

Friday

Espurr sporting a very Animal Crossing-esque pose.

5:30. That’s when we woke up. That was about an hour later than we had originally wanted to wake up. It was a little weird as I’m usually good about waking up on time when I really put my mind to it (and I’m sure it threw Nightmaren off too since Praxling was the one who ended up waking us both up of all people).

After a quick breakfast and gathering the things that we needed (ie, our cosplay, some snacks, chargers, etc), we quickly went to the car to find parking near the hotel. Luckily by the time we got there (which was around 7:40ish), we managed to find a reasonable a spot within the hotel parking lot. Since it was hot, neither Nightmaren or I had our full cosplay on. As soon as we got out of the car, we began suiting up for what would lead to be an amazing weekend filled with hilarious bits and pieces throughout.

It was still fairly early by the time we had arrived. As such,  we spent the time just walking around while I was taking pictures of Nightmaren’s cosplay and other people. Nightmaren’s cosplay proved to hinder Nightmaren’s eyesight dramatically. At this point, there was no such thing as peripheral vision. As a result, I ended up being a guide of sorts (verbally telling Nightmaren where to move, holding onto the arm, signaling when stairs start and end, etc). After going up and down a few flight of stairs, I began to think of a system that would help Nightmaren go up and down the stairs later in the day.

When we had taken a picture of Espurr sitting on the sofa (located on the upper level), the picture came out hilariously. With the angle of the picture and how Nightmaren was posed, it looked like it was one of those cheesy documentary type images where a host would show off the area. No matter how many times we had looked at it, Nightmaren and I would laugh how the Espurr cosplay looked as though it was saying, “Oh! Hello! Welcome to my house!” It didn’t take long before it became a theme throughout our entire experience.

Since the exhibition hall wouldn’t open for a while either, we asked Praxling if there were any panels that she was interested in viewing. It was later decided that we would go to a panel hosted by a cosplayer named Li Kovacs (which I just now learned is apparently based in the same state I live in). It was interesting to learn a few things about what high profile cosplayers often have to go through and getting to know the process of how they make their costumes. I had asked about crossplay at one point and was later embarrassed (apparently she’s well known to cosplay as a character of the other sex). She had an interesting talk about how she didn’t really like the word “crossplay” due to the fact that it’s really a word against gender identification. Went on to talk about how silly the term was to begin with. An example would be how there isn’t a word for when furries cosplay, or pokemon cosplay, and many other examples. I could see the point of what she was saying and it honestly made sense. Personally I don’t really think it’s that bad of a word, however I can’t really say much as I’ve never had an issue with gender identification. It has reshaped how I view the term and cosplay in general though.

As I had anticipated, Nightmaren was frequently stopped so that people could take pictures (or be taken pictures with). There were some people who took pictures of us both together (guessing they didn’t want to seem rude to only take picture of one cosplayer or they just wanted both of us in one picture) which would end up leading to something great towards the end of the convention. Whenever someone would take a picture with Nightmaren, I would also take the pictures since Nightmaren would always do this “wtf hoo r u” pose with everyone. It doesn’t help that Nightmaren’s cosplay always makes me laugh the moment I look at it.

akon26-108While we were going through the exhibit hall, I came across someone cosplaying as Saber in her casual clothing. After I had taken her photo, she had suggested that I go to the Fate/Stay Night photoshoot that was going to happen later that day (as I was cosplaying Archer from the same series). Unfortunately as the time came nearer, I was unable to locate the place that she had described. It was only much later that I found out that I could have found out in the guidebook app (I remember doing a search before however I must have searched under the wrong parameters). It was a shame but it wasn’t that big of a deal at least. To be honest, I’ve never really liked photoshoots of one anime after my first experience with Sakura-Con. I’ll have to save that for a separate post later.

We later went to a Nerdcore Comedy panel around 4:15 to give ourselves a little break. We managed to get a good spot closer to the front (and on the same side where the comedians would be at). It started off fairly okay but I found myself dozing off a little bit after it had started. I guess I was tired from not sleeping enough (and the content was somewhat mediocre). Fortunately I woke up at the best time to see Alex “Koolaid” Ansel perform. This guy was HILARIOUS. He was honestly the best comedian out of the rest of the people who came up to perform. There was a lady that came up afterwards though that got me and Nightmaren laughing so hard that we both ended up turning red just from one line. To be honest, I couldn’t remember much else but as soon as she mentioned Aspergers and “a parade of autism,” Nightmaren and I just lost it. Just a shame that the rest of her act was fairly bland but we at least had a good laugh.

akon26-238The rest of the day was spent taking pictures, walking around the same places over and over again while we were LOVE QUESTING. We made a lot of trips back to the sofa to see if it was empty. To our dismay, these filthy random uncivilized uncultured plebeians continued to occupy the sofa that rightfully belonged to That Espurr. However since Espurr is a kind pokemon, it decided to leave it alone for now.

As for the stairs, I eventually started a system that first began with counting down from 3-2-1 so that Nightmaren would be stepping up/down from the stairs to the floor. After a while, I suddenly had the idea of implementing Rhythm Heaven music to indicate stairs were approaching and setting a beat to going up/down the stairs. I have no idea why I decided to do that, but that was only the beginning…

Saturday

akon26-243

We woke up late… again.

I don’t remember when we had arrived at the hotel, however there was some weird traffic as we were traveling to the hotel. As a result, we had to go through a really roundabout way to get to the hotel. We ended up parking in a strip located across the street from the hotel. It wasn’t that bad (though I’ll admit that it made me feel a bit dewm thinking about how far I would have to walk to get to the car in the middle of the day).

Naturally the first thing we went to do was to check if the sofa was occupied by plebeians again. Unfortunately it was. Espurr and Archer threw a rage fit before going onto a LOVE QUEST around the hotel yet again.

The scarf for Nightmaren’s cosplay was starting to become an annoyance so we went to the cosplay break room to see if we could get it fixed. Interestingly enough, one of the con’s staff media photographer asked Praxling for her picture as she was fixing the scarf a bit for Nightmaren. Apparently it was meant as stock images for the cosplay break room post on A-Kon’s website. I just thought it was pretty funny considering none of us had thought that Praxling would have her picture taken (she wasn’t cosplaying). While we were setting the scarf back onto Nightmaren’s cosplay and trying to adjust it, a group of people had asked Praxling and Nightmaren for their opinions on something. I felt ever so slightly offended (not really ahaha) and told them afterwards that I really did feel like a “servant” because of that.

akon26-298One of the first things that we went to after leaving the Cosplay Break room was the room for the Miniatures Paint and Take for Praxling. There were a lot of little models to work on but what Praxling ended up choosing was the mini cowboy (fitting for someone who lives in Texas). For some reason however, she kept insisting that it was, in fact, a witch. While I did find it quite silly, I simply agreed that it was a mini witch but both Nightmaren and I knew that it was a mini cowboy. Since she would be working on that, Nightmaren and I decided to go on THE LOVE QUEST.

During our LOVE QUEST, we happened to come across someone who was cosplaying as a Pokemon trainer. Nightmaren had suggested that we should do a small photoshoot with the cosplayer to add to the “Espurr’s House” story that we had started to develop. When we had finally bumped into her again, I had asked if she was busy at the moment. While it was unfortunate that she was, I had set up a time and place to meet up so that we could do the photoshoot since she had shown interest. With that set, we continued on with our (you guessed it at this point) LOVE QUEST.

It didn’t take too long before it started to get closer to the time when we would meet up with the Pokemon Trainer cosplayer. We had waited around the area for quite some time but to our dismay, she did not arrive. I blamed myself for not thinking ahead and giving her my card so that we could contact each other in case something like this had come up. Luckily as we were going around some more, we came across the cosplayer! The only unfortunate thing was that my camera had died at this point. I was really thankful that Nightmaren had brought an extra camera. Apparently it wasn’t intentional at first but Nightmaren had decided to bring it anyway. I’m still beating myself up for not having had brought the charger to Texas. In any case, we still had a great time and I found myself really enjoying conducting the photoshoot. I know I need a bit more practice when it comes to conducting it, finding the right angle, being patient and just being more confident in general. I was just really glad that the other cosplayer found it just as interesting and fun as I did. Back to LOVE QUESTING.

I think at some point, I got separated from Nightmaren and Praxling (however I can’t remember as to why. Most likely because of pictures). I do remember meeting up with them both at the Martial Arts demonstration. They were showing off some forms and having some people do some throws here and there. As some of you may know, I’ve practiced Tae Kwon Do for about 8+ years. After I had received my black belt at the age of 18, I stopped attending to classes (due to work and classes). While I can’t say just simply being in a martial art makes you incredibly knowledgeable, I can say that I’ve done a bit of research of other martial arts and I am pretty well versed on what makes a good form and how to do certain things correctly.

akon26-281While I do understand that the panelists had a limited amount of time to demonstrate the forms and techniques they wanted to show off, I can’t find a lot of their performance to be acceptable. The female who appeared to be the main host of the panel was the only one that was barely acceptable. Everyone else barely had any real technique or power behind their punches, kicks, strikes, etc. Throughout the entire panel, I was explaining to Nightmaren and Praxling what they were doing, why they were doing it, and why those people were doing it wrong. I know it sounds harsh but I’m fairly critical when it comes to martial arts. Thankfully since Nightmaren and Praxling are familiar with human anatomy and how it functions, I didn’t have to explain too much as it made sense to them.

Towards the end of the martial arts demonstration panel, they were asking for volunteers. Out of the three the host was going to choose, I had gotten chosen. What the three of us would do is essentially judge a kendo match between two of the other panelists. One had a white pattern and the other was red. In the end, the red opponent had gained victory in the match. The reason was that the white opponent was far too “deliberate” in his attacks. In essence, he was far too focused on sticking too closely to technique rather than actually sparring. I see this too often in sparring matches and I find those kind of people to lose a lot more than those who actually try to fight.

Before I had gotten to Texas, I was looking up who Anna Yano was since I had never heard the name. Upon listening to some of the music that she had sung in, I found myself really enjoying the cheery mood portrayed in the few songs that she’s sung (that I’ve found at least). Since there was going to be a mini concert that she’d be holding, I decided to go. The other musical guest that came to A-Kon, Urban Garde, wasn’t really the kind of music that I listen to. I did give their music a try but I just couldn’t find it enjoyable. Oh well. Everyone has their own tastes, right?

When they said it was going to be a mini concert, they really weren’t joking. The “concert” took place in what would look like a small panel room. I found myself extremely lucky to have gotten a seat. Since I was trying to purchase merchandise while at the door, everyone that was behind me started to enter into the room when they had opened the doors. If I hadn’t arrived as early as I did, I would not have been able to find a seat and enjoy the concert.

Ever since Elisa had pointed out how different the crowds were in comparison to the crowds in Japan (during a concert from last year’s Sakura-Con… or was it a different singer?), I found myself seeing what she had pointed out. There was only one guy in the entire crowd that was doing what you would expect from a Japanese crowd. He had an electronic glowstick and doing the motions perfectly. It would have been nice if everyone was a bit more in sync with the cues that Anna Yano was giving out (to which I was fairly surprised at how well she did them). However I also knew that would be asking a bit too much out of an American audience. Nevertheless, I found the concert to be quite enjoyable.

The last thing I can remember is ending the day by finding Praxling in the 3DS lounge. You would normally think that’d be where it all ends but NOPE. Thanks to the glorious cosplay Nightmaren created that is Espurr, I have a bit more to tell you.

Since Nightmaren didn’t feel like taking the mask off, Nightmaren only took the gloves off and started to play the 3DS. Of course, during this, Nightmaren was giving out Espurrs in Pokemon (I didn’t know at the time). I was only able to find out since one guy in the crowd suddenly raised his voice while looking around frantically saying, “WHO’S NIGHTMARE- oh…” When he had seen Nightmaren, it was obvious that he had made the connection and silently went back to his 3DS as though he was horrified to learn exactly where he had gotten his new Pokemon from. For some reason, Nightmaren didn’t hear any of this and remained occupied with the 3DS (which hilarious was held up right in front of the mask).

There was also a girl who was in cosplay that had noticed how Nightmaren was holding up the 3DS in front of the mask. In that cosplayer’s point of view, it appeared as though Espurr was trying to show off the 3DS for everyone to see. So the cosplayer kept saying things such as, “What? Why do you want to show me that?” “Dude, what’s your problem? Why do you keep showing me your 3DS?” “OKAY I SEE THE 3DS. YOU DON’T HAVE TO SHOW IT TO ME ANYMORE.” I expected Nightmaren to make a response; however for some reason, Nightmaren did not.

Since Praxling and Nightmaren ended up playing Pokemon at the same time, they decided that they would duel each other. I was watching Nightmaren’s screen at this point (since I still have never played another Pokemon game since Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) to see what Pokemon Nightmaren had. I was excited to see what names Nightmaren and given to the Pokemon (Nightmaren tends to give Pokemon nicknames with the names of other Pokemon. So for example, a starter Pokemon would be named Pidgey, Pikachu would be named Mewtwo, or everything just named Espurr, etc). Then the screen went black for a little while only to bring up a notification that the connection had failed. Praxling was really confused because nothing happened on her screen and we were confused too. We had noticed the name Maxwell on the screen when suddenly the cosplayer I was talking about earlier jumps up exclaiming how dewm the connection was. It didn’t take long before we had made the connection. The cosplayer looked at Nightmaren and it was clear that she too had made the connection. It was weird for Nightmaren since Maxwell is the family name for Charlie… the one who made me and Nightmaren suffer through that maid horror three years ago!

After we had spent a few more minutes wrapping up, we got up to head out. I finally asked Nightmaren why there was no response when the MAXWELL cosplayer (to which I later found out was a Pokemon cosplay) was talking to Nightmaren and the random guy exclaiming as to who Nightmaren was. Apparently Nightmaren hadn’t even heard anything (which I can understand… that mask would muffle the sound). It was definitely an interesting way to end the night.

As I laid down on the sleeping bag, my mind drifted off thinking two things. 1, how much I hate the sleeping bag now and 2, why did some random person shout out “OVERLORD” during the con? Had they known that Nightmaren and I were overlords? What if… they were part of our society and even WE didn’t know? If only Charlie was around…

Sunday

akon26-349

This time we woke up on time! … Okay yeah you guessed it. Somehow we managed to wake up late for a THIRD time. Since it was a Sunday however, we managed to find decent parking in the hotel parking lot again. It was not as though there were going to be very many things to do in the morning so we took our time to savor the convention one last time.

At this point, my cosplay was starting to fall apart. Due to the way I was wearing my shoulder bag, the tassel on my right hand side had fallen off and the zipper stopped working properly. Since I didn’t want anyone to be taking pictures of my cosplay with the chance that they might be taking a picture of my undergarments as well, I decided to head directly to the Cosplay Break room when we had arrived. I first attempted to repair the zipper area with a temporary fix using safety pins. Unfortunately after spending a few minutes in the bathroom uncomfortably placing pins near my crotch, I couldn’t get it to work. At this point, I was fairly desperate. I decided that I would go ahead and sew the crotch area. It was the last day and I knew I wouldn’t be drinking that many liquids. I decided to bet on it and sew it up. It was my first time but since it didn’t need to be pretty, I went ahead and did a sloppy job. With that done, I was ready to head out for the final LOVE QUEST (no undergarment showing edition).

akon26-359As we were walking around, there were still people who were asking for both of us to be in a picture. This time around, Nightmaren and I finally changed it up to make the pictures worth it. The poses changed from Espurr’s arm around Archer to Espurr choking Archer, Espurr choke holding Archer, or Espurr pressing Archer’s own blade against his neck. While we were doing all those poses, I was a little disappointed with myself thinking, “Man, we should have done this all throughout the con.”

Both of us were stopped again by this one individual who then asked if he could do a small interview. He introduced himself as a small Youtuber who typically goes around doing these kind of interviews. Nightmaren suggested that he ask me these questions since I follow anime much more. The young gentleman proceeded to asking me to list three random animes that I have seen. I was stuck for a little not because I didn’t have any, but rather I wanted to offer a variety that’s typically not answered versus naming animes that are very common (such as Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Fairy Tail, etc). I was a little underwhelmed by how simplistic the interview was but I was glad to have at least been able to give the person some content for his video.

Now do you remember how I made the “system” for Nightmaren when going up and down the stairs? I had already felt pretty dumb by making a song of going through the stairs (I’m fairly certain everyone that was nearby heard me) but I guess it wasn’t enough. I had already supplied a lot of variety so that Nightmaren wouldn’t be bored with the same song being used over and over again. There were times where I did a Katamari version, another a LIV N LERN, and then (as you may remember, Rhythm Heaven). Today however would prove to be something special. This was going to be a day where I break all the limits and experience a temporary enlightening that would cause me to become exceptionally retarded. On one flight of stairs going down, I decided to go for a Gargloid version. For those of you who hasn’t played Animal Crossing (or simply hasn’t heard a Gargloid), it’s this fire hydrant looking… thing that’s part of a series called Gyroids. This particular one makes a gargling sound (hence the name). It’s such a hilarious sound compared to the other ones that Nightmaren and I have kept some just to laugh at it. Here’s an example of how they sound (it’s the one on the left side): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRzVrc-W3dc

Hands down the best cosplayer.
Hands down the best cosplayer.

Of course, as soon as I did this, Nightmaren started laughing hysterically. I don’t think Nightmaren would have ever thought I would do a gargloid version (to be honest, I didn’t either). As if Nightmaren wasn’t already broken enough though, I managed to place icing on top when I started “speaking” in gargloid when counting down from 3,2,1. It was enough to force Nightmaren to stop for a while due to all the laughing. I ended up laughing because I surprised my own self. I was fairly certain at this point that anyone that was around to hear me had instantly labeled me as something “special” or just flat out retarded. To be fair, they weren’t entirely wrong either ahaha.

About an hour or two later, we were stopped again for another interview. This time, however, it was concerning consent in cosplay. This individual wanted to spread awareness how some people in cosplay were being sexually harassed just because they were in fairly revealing costumes. In essence, as with most other signs I’ve seen in other conventions, Cosplay Does NOT Equal Consent. This time, Nightmaren was able to provide some insightful feedback in regards to the subject. I’ve always admired how flawlessly and eloquently Nightmaren has been able to express ideas and thoughts. It certainly left me with nothing else to provide but to reaffirm what had already been said and that I agreed with Nightmaren’s point. I’ve still yet to see the video on the A-Kon page but as soon as I find it, I’ll put it in this post.

I honestly don’t need to say it again but as usual, we were LOVE QUESTING around when Nightmaren and I were stopped by someone who was in cosplay. She had asked if Nightmaren would be interested in participating in a Pokemon photoshoot. Since we had nothing else planned, we figured why not.

akon26-370I was pleasantly surprised with the variety that the photoshoot had. Unlike most other photoshoots, there were a lot of different cosplays of different characters and Pokemon (for obvious reasons). With other photoshoots, I had gotten tired of seeing 5~15+ cosplays of the same character in one picture. It just didn’t have the same feel to it. There is a lot more you can capture if you were to minimize the subject count per photograph. In this case, however, it was great as there were a lot of different opportunities to add something different to every shot.

Before Nightmaren was actually invited to the photoshoot, Nightmaren had been talking about how there was a video of some cosplayer throwing down a Catbug plushie and how that had horrored someone. Naturally Nightmaren thought it’d be hilarious if there were an opportunity Nightmaren could do something similar. In the photoshoot group, there were three people who were cosplaying as Pokemon Breeders. What they had as props gave us an idea. I went to ask the cosplayers if Nightmaren could use a bucket of the dittos for the next shoot. Thankfully they were kind enough to let us do so. After getting the okay from the person who was hosting the photoshoot, I had Nightmaren positioned in front of the two buckets full of Dittos. The reaction was golden.

While the photoshoot was in session, Nightmaren told me I should ask one of the cosplayers for another one of our own photoshoots. The cosplayer Nightmaren had mentioned was apparently a pokemon trainer in the game Espurr was from. Seeing that it would be great to have some more content to add to our “Espurr’s House” story, I went over to ask. Even though I’ve asked one person before, I was again shocked at how open people are to being a part of a photoshoot. This time, however, I gave my card to the cosplayer so that we could contact each other in case something comes up (or more like she can contact me).

Between the time of leaving the photoshoot and meeting up with the cosplayer again, I met a Rin cosplayer that I had to unfortunately decline pictures at the time. I gave her my card so that she could contact me later if she was still around. Since we still had a bit of time to enjoy the con, we went to the exhibition hall to see if there were any deals. Unfortunately it appeared that there were no deals (and according to one vendor, they just stopped doing it altogether) but that didn’t stop Praxling from looking to get something.

akon26-269At one point, we had reached a spot where they were having a surprise grab bag deal going on for about $20. Praxling wasn’t sure if she wanted to get the bag that looked the biggest but I encouraged her to do so. After she had contemplated between two other bags, she decided to go for the first one. The result was glorious and I couldn’t have asked for anything better. What she had ended up getting was a bee pillow pet (and some small plushie but I can’t remember). This made Praxling rage HARD. While I didn’t want to appear TOO mean (yet), I was laughing so hard inside. It was very apparent that she was very upset about the whole thing though. Thus Nightmaren had an idea.

Nightmaren had told me that they were going to have a small talk real quick. It wasn’t the first time so I just went up ahead a little. I was actually surprised with how little time it took for them to finish their talk but I would soon find out what they were discussing.

So there’s this leather making booth in the exhibit hall where you can make bracelets for free by using a hammer and the imprint blocks that they have. Praxling had already made a few before so she was quite familiar with it. This is when time had slowed down. I see her beginning to approach the booth. I start connecting the pieces. Praxling got the bracelet. Sweat begins to fall down my neck. Praxling slowly grabs the hammer. I fear for the worst. She begins reaching for the imprint blocks. I then begin to wonder, “Is there really a block with that image?” She picks the block up and I see a horse image. I am now panicking. With a swing fit for a GOD, Praxling hit the imprint block so hard that I felt as though the impact was hit across my own face. Fortunately all of her rage was spent in that one swing as most of the other imprints Praxling had made in the bracelet were only 10% of the remaining rage that she had had. It was pretty great.

akon26-393The time had arrived when we would meet up with the Pokemon cosplayer, however we didn’t see the cosplayer for a little while. I had also just received an email from the Rin cosplayer asking where I was. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to meet up with her and take a few pictures since our cosplayer didn’t arrive… except she did a few moments later. When the Rin cosplayer did arrive, I was already in the process of taking pictures of Espurr and Serena and I had to ask her if she could wait a while. She had eventually left and I felt incredibly bad for declining yet a second time. After the photoshoot was done (to which the Serena cosplayer seemed to have enjoyed thankfully), I made it an effort to find her again.

I was lucky enough to actually have found her and (with Nightmaren’s help) conduct our own little photoshoot. This one definitely gave me a good idea of how I should conduct poses and direct the cosplayer (and myself) into proper positions so it wouldn’t look as odd. They were still good pictures, however I feel like I could have done a much better job. I’ve always had that fear of appearing too bossy or too imposing. I’ve now come to realize that people enjoy these things and they seem to be rather understanding. Because of this, I feel like I should be a bit more brave on the next Sakura-Con I attend to and possibly hold some more photoshoots (as I would love to provide even better cosplay pictures).

At this point, we had LOVE QUESTed around the hotel long enough and it was time to put an end to the A-Kon chapter and head home. I was fairly surprised how much fun I had there but I already knew why it was so much fun.

The house has finally been recaptured.
The house has finally been recaptured.

Just before we would leave back to Nightmaren’s apartment, we went to go eat at a Mongolian restaurant called Ghengis Khan. There we met up with male Charlie (that joined us last time three years ago). It was nice to catch up with male Charlie and talk about our adventures and all the hilarious things that had happened during the con. My combination ended up being too sweet so I couldn’t finish what I had (even though everyone was telling me that I would not be able to finish large and it’d be more worth it to get medium). I thought it was fine nevertheless as I simply brought it to-go.

After our goodbyes and farewells, Nightmaren and I finally went on to go back to Fort Worth. Upon arrival, we simply continued to dun. It was fairly hilarious as we were playing Animal Crossing together. We ended up going to that Club LOL that’s in the game and left it on as background music. Since I had my 3DS on one end of the room and Nightmaren’s on the other, it sounded like we had music on a surround sound system.

It was nice to be in an apartment that was far cooler (temperature wise and figuratively!). It certainly made it a lot easier to lounge around. I found myself in a bit of disbelief on how quickly time had passed. Everything seemed to have passed by so slowly as there just seemed to have been SO much to do in comparison to what I normally do at work (hardly anything). As I laid on the sleeping bag, I simply just thought about the fact that it had been three years since I last visited Texas and how much I’ve come to know Nightmaren. A lot has happened since then and it was nice to be back in Texas with a different mind set.

My eyes began to droop as I thought about what we would end up doing tomorrow. After all, it was going to be the last day I spend in Texas before I head back home. I’m just glad that this time around, I planned for enough time where I can comfortably hang out with Nightmaren free from the convention.
