Day 4 of Texas | Day 2 of A-Kon

Posted on

I managed to wake up at around 1pm this time. After I went to do the morning duties, I went out to go find my friend. I had to go back momentarily because I had forgotten my badge. I’m just glad that one guy was slightly awake to open the door. I felt a little bad but I really needed my stuff. I actually managed to find my friend very quickly while I was taking a picture with Holo. It was really funny because I was just thinking how both Nightmaren and I liked the anime. From there, we began to venture around the con to wait for Night’s friends to finish at the panel they were at. To pass the time, I went to sign up at Crunchy Roll only to get the free t-shirt. I began talking about the nico script to one of the crunchy roll staff that was around and she seemed relatively interested. So if one of the fansub translators gets a professional job, then they had better thank me for giving them some publicity. Then we went to the Dealer’s room to browse and maybe perhaps get something. I managed to get two wall screens for 33 dollars and I was really happy about that. After the friends had finished, we wandered around for a bit and then decided to go into the voice actor panel. I can’t remember the names at the moment but the four voice actors that were in the panel were very hilarious and actually interesting to listen to. I know one of them is the voice actor for the Dragon Ball Z narrator (MY CHILDHOOD), another is the voice actor for Nina Williams (AWESOME), and another is the voice actor for Raiden (TRIPLE AWESOME). The other person, I’m not too sure. After looking her up on MyAnimeList, I found out that she did quite a lot of roles including Eucliwood from Zombie Desu Ka.
I was pretty hungry so I went to the Corner Bakery Café (which is the same cafe that I went to the last time) and ordered a sandwich. I got the Tomato Mozzarella sandwich and it was DELICIOUS. After I had finished, I went to regroup with Nightmaren. Shortly after I did, I lately realized that I actually forgot my wall scrolls. So I went back out to the Plaza to go see if I had left it back at the café. Luckily they did have it and kept it in the back. I was relieved and went to regroup once more. When I went to go find them, they went in line to wait for the cosplay show. It took a LONG time (approximately hour and a half) just to be able to get into the panel. Even though I was in the back, I managed to see somewhat alright. There were a lot of “walks” and skits. There were a few that were pretty good and the skits were alright. The doctor that Nightmaren shadowed also volunteered for the walk which made me laugh. The skits were fun to watch but I dewmed when I saw someone sing the Leek Song. It was still fun but I just simply wished that I could have recorded it. The winners though were agreeable. It’s really fun to watch people cosplay. At least one of the group of friends that I was around had recorded it and she just offered to give it to me later. It’s good to have connections bwahaha. After the cosplay contest had ended, we just roamed around for a bit to kill the time. I had walked with them to Nightmaren’s car and I dropped my banners off into the trunk. After that, I went back to hang around the Kiosk and kill time until it was time for my shift.
My job was almost the same as last night but I had the middle elevators where it was between two halls (one of them being very busy). I had to interact with more people than I did last time but it was okay except for a few people. There were the few assholes that would try to constantly argue with me. One person said that I couldn’t physically stop him (if I wanted to keep volunteering in the future, possibly not), and went on an elevator anyway. Then there were random people just opening the belt from the gate line way thing and tipping it over. The one that topped it off was this guy who was on the phone. He appeared to be having a bad time, his eyes were blood shot and he was trying to get on the elevator. I had asked him if he was hotel staff and he had said no. I was about to politely instruct him that he could not use the elevator from the second floor until he yelled at the top of his lungs that he was security and that I’m a dumbass for not noticing that due to the fact that he had a phone in his hand. Word for word he said,” I’M FUCKING SECURITY! DO YOU NOT SEE WHAT I HAVE IN MY HAND?! I HAVE A FUCKING PROBLEM TO DEAL WITH SO FUCK OFF!” I was just simply astonished at how this man had just treated me. I have never EVER been so disrespected by someone who says he was part of some security team. Luckily my previous zone leader was around and pretty much asked the same guy the same thing but he answered a bit more calmly. What kind of bullshit is that? To top that off, Luckily, my friend was actually accompanying me when he had seen me getting off the elevator. It was Alex who caught a bit of him on his iPhone but I don’t think he actually got him when he was yelling. I wouldn’t expect him to so it’s nothing for me to really worry about. After all that had happened, I didn’t have to worry about it as much. Alex had to leave for a bit but he came back soon with a guitar. He played some of the most relaxing tunes ever. While they may not have been the longest songs, they were really nice and soothing to listen to. Later, a guy came around and started to play some music as well. It was interesting to listen to two completely different styles of guitar playing. They stayed around for a little but left eventually. As time went by, the less people I had to worry about naturally. Even as it approached 8am, there still wasn’t that many people passing by. It took a while, but I finally had finished my last and final shift.
